The case against a South Australian woman charged with manslaughter over the death of her daughter has been delayed four weeks after new information in the case was filed on Wednesday.
Jenni Wilmott, 54, has been charged with a raft of offences, including two counts of commit manslaughter and four counts of aggravated assault against her teenage daughter Jasmine Wilmott.
Jasmine took her own life in 2018 and police allege Ms Wilmott failed to provide a duty of care to her daughter.
Appearing at Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, Ms Wilmott’s defence requested a four-week adjournment to assess the new information and take instructions from Ms Wilmott.
Magistrate Simon Smart granted the adjournment and Ms Wilmott will return to court on August 31.
Ms Wilmott is on bail and left the court after the hearing.
Craig Caldicott, for Ms Wilmott, has previously told the court that his client would fight the charges and plead not guilty.
Details on the case in the lead-up to Jasmine’s death are not publicly available at the request of Ms Wilmott’s lawyer.
The names of people Ms Wilmott is prohibited from contacting have also been suppressed.
